Malachite Sphere
A polished malachite sphere with the banded concentric patterning that makes malachite one of the most visually arresting minerals in any collection. Cut from solid malachite and ground to a sphere, then polished to a high gloss — the process reveals cross-sections through the mineral's growth rings, the same rings you would see in a tree trunk but compressed into geological time.
Malachite's green comes from copper carbonate — the same chemistry that turns copper pipes green, the same compound on the Statue of Liberty. In its gem form, it is opaque, banded, and intensely coloured.
A sphere sits flat on any smooth surface. Place it on an included ring stand or on a fold of velvet. It will catch every light source in a room and reflect the banding from multiple angles simultaneously.
